bates family [assignment 2]

For my second assignment in my online course, I was to focus on using my posing guide, and variations on poses. I went out with my friend Cammi and her family and had a pretty sweet time! Here’s my favorites :)

We went out to Daybreak, where I’d heard they have some pretty super places to take pictures. And when I got there, everything was practically amazing. Although, as I looked around, nothing was really screaming PICK ME since everything was really out in the open with people walking around. So I decided to scout out a little more, and I found this little valley next to a bike trail :) SO AWESOME! It was remote enough that I felt like we could ignore the world for a little while and just focus on us. Plus, I really wanted to do more with backlighting.

I wanted to combine to use of my posing guide and shot list to find flattering positions for everyone, and vary each position as much as I could. This was also another reason why I was excited about finding a location where I wouldn’t be distracted by too many backgrounds. It was a challenge to remember to do all the things I’d learned over the last two weeks, and didn’t remember a lot, but I feel very happy with the results!
Here’s some more of my favorites:

Cammi and Josh were brave enough to let me try out a couple of the Beloved prompts on them, and I really love the reactions and emotions caught in the pictures.

I chose this next pose from one I saw my teacher do, actually. And at the risk of being a copy-cat… I just went for it because I love where the couple’s hands are and the casual feel :) Hooray for inspiration in all forms :D

Marissa Lynn - Great job Becky!! You got so many great shots of the couple and family, I love the one with the mother laughing holding onto her husbands arm and the ones of them each with one child, love it! I bet this family is super happy with their session!!!
