I’ve really been looking forward to sharing my next personal project with the world :) My last one was way more emotional and deep than I had originally anticipated, so for this one I wanted to go in a direction that felt a little different and a little less intense, but still really important to me.
Here’s a quick preview of what I’ve got going on. I’m excited to share the whole story with you soon!
As you know, I like these projects to speak for themselves; so I’ll give you some context to get you excited, and leave you to feel the feels you’re going to feel until I can get the rest out there.
As a society we have created a cycle of life, a symbiosis, with our pets. If you have a pet (and you’re a decent human being) you also have a vet. And unless your pet has an illness or injury, you probably rarely get to see what it’s like to experience the amazing things veterinarians, the technicians, and all the staff do for our animals. In fact, during this project, I learned that even if the only experience you have with your vet is your pet’s annual vaccine shot, the people who are giving that shot have likely had a day, or a week, or even a lifetime of caring for and understanding the relationship humans have with our pets and what animals need to feel safe and loved.
This project is more personal to me, in that this is my veterinarian! Dr. Laura McLain and Holladay Veterinary Hospital were kind enough to give me some insight into what goes on on the other side of the door. The work environment is surprisingly emotional and invested in caring for these living creatures.
Enough for now.
